entrepreneurship for teens

​An 8-month course that gives students a college-level understanding of the fundamentals of entrepreneurship. With the help of coaches and UCLA mentors, students create original business concepts, write comprehensive business plans, and compete at two widely-recognized pitch competitions. ​​

COLLEGE ESSAY WRITING

A 6-week course that stretches students to not only understand and identify the components that create a strong college essays, but strong personal narratives.

civics education in action

A Summer course designed to empower students through a curriculum that provides a foundation in civics and government, but more importantly stresses the personal responsibility of students to uplift their local communities and beyond. ​

Our goal at Breakthrough is to help students define what matters to them. Whether it be an idea, career, or degree, we want to help our students, not just by giving them the tools for success, but by teaching them to create their own tools for success.

Collaboration

While other learning centers emphasize individual learning and achievement, many of our classes, including Civics Education in Action, challenge students to develop strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills by working and collaborating with other students. ​

Discussion

Through Think Tank and many of our weekend Writing Classes for Teens and Pre-teens, we reinforce the importance of discussion and critical thinking around current events that affect not just our local Arcadia community, but the nation and beyond. ​

Competition

Just because we don’t do SAT prep doesn’t mean we shy away from competition. Many of our classes including Entrepreneurship for Teens require our students to compete and build public speaking and presentational skills. ​
